LAKELANDER DENNIS FLEITZ WILL PERFORM WITH THE LSO MARCH 5
The Lakeland Symphony Orchestra announces cellist Dennis Fleitz as the winner of the 2021-2022 Mason Young Artists Competition. Fleitz, a student at the University of Central Florida, will receive a scholarship and perform with the LSO during the March 5 concert at the Polk Theatre.

Fleitz is the sub-principal cellist for the UCF Chamber Orchestra and UCF Symphony Orchestra, and has recently completed arrangements for the UCF Cello Choir that will be performed this Spring.
The Mason Young Artists Competition is open each year to students in high school, undergraduate and graduate schools who are from Polk County or attend a Polk County educational institution. The competition and scholarship are underwritten by the Beth Mason Young Artists Fund within GiveWell Community Foundation, created as a tribute to Beth Mason and her contributions to music and music education in Polk County.
Fleitz will perform Hadyn’s Cello Concerto No. 2, in D major
Fleitz will perform as part of the LSO’s final symphonic concert of the season. “Symphony No 5” will feature and Overture to Ruslan and Ludmila (Glinka), Cello Concerto No. 2 in D major (Hadyn) and Symphony No. 5 (Tchaikovsky). Tickets for the March 5 concert are available online and by phone: (863) 688-3743. Student tickets are free.
